Twin Cities Soccer Leagues is excited to announce the 2020-21 launch of the Minnesota NPL, establishing the top of the soccer pyramid for TCSL clubs. The platform will be a club-based league that features a predictable calendar model, hyper-competitive local competition and college recruiting events.

The Minnesota NPL will be open to TCSL clubs at 13-19U age groups for both boys and girls. The Minnesota NPL will replace the formerly operated winter-only Girls NPL. League winners will advance to US Club Soccer’s NPL national playoff structure.

Most importantly, the new offering completes the TCSL pathway puzzle. All levels besides NPL will continue to operate unique seasons in the Fall, Winter and Spring/Summer.

“It is important for TCSL to evolve and to the best of our ability, be on the cutting edge of improving our offering.” said Matt Tiano, CEO of Twin Cities Soccer Leagues. “In consultation with US Club Soccer, we see tremendous opportunity to provide additional opportunities to TCSL clubs, to clarify our pathway, and to provide the very best hyper-local league offering in Minnesota.”

NPL 13U-14U players will play one season September through June, while 15U+ players will play one season November through June. The league will emphasize calendar decongestion, appropriate training-to-match ratios, and club-driven scheduling. In addition, TCSL will provide a college recruiting platform, ID camp and Showcase event for 15U+ age groups.

“We dipped our toes in the water with the successful implementation of a Winter-operated Girls-only NPL,” Tiano said. “We look forward to enhancing the structure to be more strategic and thoughtful for the betterment of TCSL clubs and players.”

A club application is available here and is due on July 6.
